Related Activities Conference on E-Learning - a review will be published on http://ah.brookes.ac.uk/ in due course: Saturday 31st March and Sunday 1st April 2007 The recent development of technology is so rapid that it is very hard for an average language practitioner to keep up with new terminology and what these terms mean and what these things actually do. From the late 1990s, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) has been actively encouraged for use in classrooms for all subjects. Almost ten years on, what are the impacts of the ever developing technology? Where will we be going next? In this two day conference, we will look into the present practice and pedagogy of e-learning and Japanese language teaching & learning by sharing our experience and ideas. The term e-learning is interpreted in the broadest sense and includes all form of computer assisted language learning, e.g. production of word-processed handouts for students, CD-ROMs, DVDs etc and using Powerpoint in whole class instruction as well as activities using Internet technology. Contact: Mrs Suzuko Anai Speakers include: - Professor Graham Davis, Emeritus Professor of Computer Assisted Language Learning The conference is organised by: The Department of Modern Languages, Oxford Brookes University and the British Association for Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language(BATJ) Japan Societies/Club Activities Oxford Brookes has a Japan Interest Group that organises regular events of interest for staff and students; events are also open to outsiders. Future Developments The Japan Interest Group converted a room in the Gibbs Building and decorated it in Japanese style, with tatami mats, shoji/fusuma on the walls, and decorative amado facing into the main entrance hall: http://ssl.brookes.ac.uk/JIG/japan_room.htm |
