Sunderland has about 660 Japan-related books in English and 75 in Japanese. It subscribes to 15 Japan related journals in English and six in Japanese. Most of the journals are open to students in the Language Access Centre. Assistance for materials has been received from the Japan Foundation. All library resources are catalogued on an in-house computerised system which is networked on PCs and available anywhere on campus. Sunderland has an agreement with Newcastle University , the University of Northumbria and the University of Teesside allowing students and staff restricted borrowing. The Internet is used to access Japanese news, language materials and other Japan-related information.
